space audio

Inspired by today's news regarding a large solar storm affecting Earth, I searched online for the sounds of space.
A fantastic page set up by Professor Donald A Gurnett of The University of Iowa collects a series of recordings from the University's instrumentation on 'various spacecraft'. The sound snippets are eerie, evocative and wouldn't sound out of place on any Wire compilation. The page titles are also worthy contenders for any prog-rock band's output: 'Cassini Listens to Lightning at Saturn', 'Voyager Termination Shock' etc.
